In 2018-2019, the European Network on Statelessness (ENS) carried out the pilot phase of its #HearItFromUs project, which brought together ENS members and stateless communities to develop participatory approaches, to boost the involvement of stateless migrants in ongoing work to end statelessness in Europe. First year of the #HearItFromUs project has laid the ground for ENS’s overall aim to improve engagement with people affected by statelessness, provide opportunities for activists to have their voices heard and increase positive media coverage of statelessness. The learnings from the pilot phase are available as a tool for other civil society organisations and networks looking to start to build a more participatory approach into their own work with refugees and migrants in Europe.
Throughout year two of the three-year communication capacity development programme, ENS will promote community engagement by providing communications support, training, media booking, messaging advice and other services to stateless migrants. As part of the new digital strategy, ENS will develop online infrastructure to mobilise new and existing supporters around messages that will raise awareness and mobilise key audiences to act on the issue.
