Oxfam Italia’s “Integration for the future – “Strada Facendo”, Walking towards life autonomy for migrant children and young adults who have arrived in Italy alone” project aims to address gaps linked to the reception system for unaccompanied and separated youth, such as labour autonomy, free access to quality and diversified professional trainings, socio-cultural inclusion, and protecting housing rights.
Thanks to an inclusive, integrated and shared approach, in strong contrast with a top-down decision-making approach, the participatory model proposed by the project places the choices and attitudes of the young people at the centre of the construction of his/her individual path and represents a concrete support for the child or young adult. The project includes training courses on rights and duties in the workplace, soft skills training, language courses, job training courses, apprenticeships, housing support and the support of volunteer “social guardians”.
