GRANTS AND FINANCE MANAGER
Background
Created in 2005, EPIM, the European Programme for Integration and Migration, is the largest collaborative fund active on migration in Europe. Hosted by the Network of European Foundations (NEF), EPIM strengthens the role of civil society in building inclusive communities and in developing humane and sustainable responses to migration.
EPIM has recently embarked on a systemic process of change, rethinking where it should go as a philanthropic collaborative beyond 2023. To support this process, we are now looking for a Grants and Finance Manager based within our team in Brussels, who will help shape and implement our future financial and grant-making structure.
We are looking for someone ethical, who is guided by the values of equity, tolerance, and solidarity. We are a small and tightly knit high-performing team and seek a driven collaborator to co-create with us. The expected start date for the role is September 2022.
Responsibilities
The Grants and Finance Manager will act as EPIM’s backbone, leading and implementing its budget, finances and grant-making processes.
Key responsibilities include:
Budget management and financial governance
- Develop and implement financial procedures and documentation to ensure the smooth running of EPIM and respond to the needs and requirements of EPIM’s Foundations, grantee partners and NEF;
- Collaborate with the team to prepare and provide financial overviews to the Board
- Provide financial guidance to grantee partners and the team
- Develop and monitor (multi-)annual budgets
- Develop and review budget proposals
Grant-making
- Support the reform of EPIM’s grant making processes towards approaches that are trust- and equity-based
- Own and operate EPIM’s grants administration system
- Systematise and lead on EPIM’s due diligence processes
- Interact professionally with partners in multiple countries
Impact & Learning (depending on the candidate’s profile)
- Support the development of EPIM’s Impact and Learning system based on the outcome of its process of change
- Eventually, ensuring its active deployment
Requirements
Essential Skills and Experience
- Ability to synthesise data and intelligence from across EPIM’s different workstreams to inform the strategic process
- Several years of experience in financial management including the ability to work with complex budgets and make them understandable to various audiences;
- Experience in building the financial resilience and sustainability of an organisation;
- Strategic thinker, able to translate EPIM’s ambitions into frameworks and new ways of working where needed
- Experience of developing and managing a grants programme and carrying out due diligence assessments
- Strong planning, organisational and coordination skills
- Ability to work both autonomously and in a team
- Fluency in English
Desirable Experience
- Fundraising experience
- Experience in developing and implementing a monitoring, evaluation and learning framework
- Experience in non-profit work
- Experience providing capacity development support on funding
- Lived migration experience
