Building Inclusive Societies in Central and Eastern Europe
Built on the back of EPIM’s Ukraine Response this cluster focuses on helping societies in CEE negotiate issues of migration, belonging and on strengthening civil society and democratic practices.
EPIM’s vision is to create spaces for belonging and more inclusive societies in CEE, for all, no matter where, when, and how they arrive, for the long-term.

Shaping the Future of European Migration Governance
We view migration governance as the way migrants’ lives are being governed, beyond laws, policies, institutions and practices, encompassing relationships, power dynamics and mindsets.
Based on a unique first-ever Systems Map, EPIM identified leverage points in the system to fund interventions on. These interventions build on EPIM’s past work on alternatives to detention, borders and EU mobility.

Political Response, Opportunity Innovation Fund
While not a cluster per se, the Fund is agile and innovative opportunity mechanism and intervention in response to a given opening that may arise in the migration ecosystem and EPIM’s ability to make use of it to achieve its vision.
Convening the ecosystem to cultivate shared narratives and structures of belonging, ultimately strengthening democratic resilience.
Grounding decisions and strategies in the diverse realities of migrant’s lives and enhancing their role and influence across the migration ecosystem.
