  1. About EPIM and the EPIM team

Created in 2005, the European Programme for Integration and Migration (EPIM) is the largest and longest standing collaborative initiative of private foundations active in Europe on the issues of migration and inclusion. Hosted by the Network of European Foundations (NEF), EPIM is a joint grant-making platform that aims to strengthen the role of civil society in building inclusive communities and in developing humane and sustainable responses to migration.

EPIM has a small and multidisciplinary team, which it is seeking to expand with an additional Programme Manager. The Programme Manager will contribute to the work of a collaborative and motivated team that aims to be a trusted partner of EPIM’s partner foundations and an ear to the field on migration and inclusion needs and opportunities.

 

  1. About the position

EPIM is looking for a dynamic and motivated Programme Manager who is passionate about seeking to improve the lives of migrants and the societies they live in. The Programme Manager will lead EPIM’s internal and external communication strategies, and will engage in EPIM’s programme and thematic priorities overall.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Define, coordinate and implement EPIM’s external and internal communication strategy, including the website, social media, reputation management and mailing list
  • Be the lead on EPIM’s Thematic Fund on Strategic Communications on migration: coordinate and implement the related grant-making process, including the development of Calls for Proposals and the selection, monitoring and evaluation of projects; organise convenings and act as the primary contact person for partner foundations and grantees; coordinate the strategic review of the Thematic Fund and the development of future strategies
  • Lead EPIM’s annual reporting process to EPIM´s partner foundations as well as externally
  • Lead EPIM’s overall internal and external communication, drawing also from grantees’ experiences and achievements
  • Ensure stakeholder management: outreach to foundations, civil society organisations, public policy makers, international organisations and UN bodies, academia, private sector actors and other stakeholders as relevant
  • Support the grant management process under EPIM’s other thematic priorities
  • Support civil society organisations in the migration sector through capacity development, network building and knowledge gathering.
  • Participate in programme level activities and priorities, including but not limited to Steering and Executive Committee meeting preparations, programme level strategy development and programme level grant-making.

Essential skills and experience

  • Strong knowledge of the EU migration and inclusion (and/or intersecting with human and social rights) policy landscape, including relevant actors;
  • Several years of professional experience in the field of migration or inclusion, preferably including also national or local experience
  • Excellent drafting and presentation skills in English
  • Full proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Experience in developing and managing external communication strategies, including social media
  • Experience in developing and implementing strategic communication and/or narrative change strategies and processes on human rights, anti-discrimination and/or migration issues
  • Strategy development and strategic thinking capabilities;
  • Strong planning, organisational and coordinating skills;
  • Sensitivity, diplomacy, and grit to work with different stakeholders, including people with different perspectives and priorities
  • Ability to work both autonomously and in team

 Desirable skills and experience

  • Fundraising experience
  • Network and experience in EU advocacy on migration
  • Experience in developing and implementing a monitoring and evaluation framework
  • Experience in non-profit work, community organising or social or private sector more broadly
  • Direct experience with and/or in media
  • Administrative and financial skills, and experience of developing and managing a grants programme and carrying out due diligence and project assessments;
  • Lived migration experience

 

  1. What we offer
  • A contract for 2 years with the potential of becoming permanent
  • A full-time position (37.5 hours per week) – terms to be mutually discussed and agreed upon
  • A gross salary of approximately Euro 3,500 to 5,000 per month, depending on level of experience, accompanied by a benefits package;

 We expect:

  • Applicants to have EU citizenship or a valid work permit for Belgium;
