In response to the Ukraine Crisis, eLiberare introduced the ‘KOMPASS‘ protection model in Romania. It seeks to address the risks of human trafficking faced by Ukrainian refugees. This includes providing access to information on services and rights, safe disclosure spaces, awareness on human trafficking prevention, specialised support for survivors, and legal aid for labor market integration. The KOMPASS model was used to effectively address compound vulnerabilities in refugees and correlated human trafficking risks in Romania for the past years.
Throughout 2023 and 2024, eLiberare aims to expand the model across Romania, Greece, and Moldova. With EPIM’s support the the project will be inorporated into the Moldovan context, enhancing local capacity, and providing safety materials online, reaching at least 50,000 people. The organisation plans to involve multiple entities and train 120 frontline responders in Romania and Moldova, further scaling up its intervention.
