In 2018-2019, PICUM successfully implemented the pilot phase of a three-year capacity development process by reinforcing staff’s communications capacities, refining its overall communications strategy and reinforcing coordination with its network’s communications task force. Through strengthening communication capacities and strategic planning, PICUM envisages to influence and shift the narrative on irregular migration within media, public and political domains to build empathy with undocumented people and support for policies which uphold their fundamental rights.
During year two of the project, PICUM will incorporate the pilot phase learnings within its communications work and produce implementation plans for the new communications strategy, involving the advocacy staff and the communications task force members where relevant. Regular meetings with the communications task force will provide a space for PICUM’s members to further develop joint communications activities and contribute to increased coordination of advocacy and communications work.
