EPIM Policy Update December 2019

EPIM Policy Update December 2019

EPIM Policy Updates are developed as a resource for organisations interested in European policy developments in the areas of migration and integration. The European Policy Centre (EPC), a Brussels-based think tank, has been commissioned by EPIM to produce these Policy Updates.

EPIM’s Policy Update addresses topics relevant to the following EPIM Thematic Funds: (1) Migration and Detention; (2) Reforming the Common European Asylum System; (3) Children and Youth on the Move, (4) Mobile EU Citizens’ Access to Rights, and (5) Building Inclusive European Societies.

This edition’s special focus considers the situation in Greece, where asylum seekers face rapidly deteriorating reception conditions. Other key highlights of this Policy Update include:

• The European Commission’s green light to Croatia’s accession to the Schengen Area;
• The formal approval of the Regulation of the European Border and Coast Guard;
• A closer look from the European Network on Statelessness at ways to strengthen the voices of stateless refugees and migrants in the migration debate.
