EPIM Policy Updates are developed as a resource for organisations interested in European policy developments in the areas of migration and integration. The European Policy Centre (EPC), a Brussels-based think tank, has been commissioned by EPIM to produce these Policy Updates.
EPIM’s Policy Update addresses topics relevant to the following EPIM Thematic Funds: (1) Migration and Detention; (2) Reforming the Common European Asylum System; (3) Children and Youth on the Move, (4) Mobile EU Citizens’ Access to Rights, and (5) Building Inclusive European Societies.
This edition’s special focus looks at the 2019 European Parliament elections and their implications for the CEAS reform process. Other key highlights of this Policy Update include:
• The continued criminalisation of solidarity;
• Leaked Council working paper on temporary disembarkation arrangements;
• Council adopts position on Return Directive;
• A closer look from the Global Refugee Led Network and New Women Connectors at the European Summit of Refugees and Migrants.
