EPIM Policy Update September 2013

EPIM Policy Update September 2013

The second edition of the EPC Policy Update specifically prepared for organisations engaged in EPIM is now available online.

EPIM has commissioned the European Policy Centre, a Brussels-based think tank, to produce quarterly EPC Policy Updates. These focussed analyses have the aim of supporting the advocacy work being done by organisations engaged in EPIM by providing information on a range of recent EU-level policy-making, legislation and jurisprudence relevant to EPIM’s three focus areas – (1) Asylum seekers; (2) Undocumented Migrants; and (3) Equality, integration and social inclusion of vulnerable migrants.

Key highlights include:

  • Changes with the 2014-2020 EU budget: the Asylum and Migration Fund (AMF) and the Internal Security Fund (ISF),
  • The completion of the Common European Asylum System,
  • Latest case law from the European Court of Justice (ECJ),
  • The implementation of EU rules in the Member States with a special focus on Greece,
  • The Smart Borders Package,
  • The Schengen evaluation mechanism and borders code,
  • Freedom of movement of EU citizens and third-country nationals,
  • Access to healthcare for migrants, and
  • Upcoming events at EU level.
