20 Years of EPIM: Our Collective Journey Towards Reimagining Migration, Democracy and Belonging

This publication traces what EPIM and its partners built across two decades: the relationships that outlasted political cycles, the narratives that shifted when shifting felt impossible, and the conviction that belonging is a structural necessity. An honest account of what collective transformation actually required.

Twenty years ago, a group of pioneering Foundations came together around a shared conviction and bold idea: that migration was a societal phenomenon requiring collective action. Today, EPIM represents an ecosystem of changemakers, where trust and co-creation are shaping new narratives for migration, rethinking it as belonging and a democratic imperative.

This publication is a celebration of EPIM’s journey and our partners’ work: migrants, communities, advocates, Foundations, local leaders, researchers and many others, who have walked this path with us. Each of these vignettes contain stories of movement, resilience and hope, stories that reflect a shared belief in a Europe where everyone can truly belong.

Rethinking Strategy Through Systems Mapping: A Reflection on EPIM’s Migration Governance Grantmaking Process

Migration governance in Europe is complex, interconnected, and ever-changing.
