The ‘Ensuring a Safe Transition into Adulthood’ project aims to build a common understanding (and approach) amongst stakeholders and policy makers of the realities and challenges facing undocumented young people ageing out at the age of 18, and to raise awareness that all children in migration face a precarious transition into adulthood and need support, irrespective of residence status.
The key objective of the project is to develop civil society-endorsed guidance on transition into adulthood encompassing the different phases, needs and situations of migrant children and young people. The guidance is meant to inform both EU, national and local governments and other stakeholders involved in ageing out and the broader transition into adulthood of migrant children, to, ultimately, create a more harmonised approach across countries benefitting children and young people, irrespective of residence status or their caregivers being present or not.
