With this project, Oxfam Italy, Oxfam International EU Office and the Greek Council for Refugees aim to influence the national and EU level policy debate related to the transition period for migrant youth, so that unaccompanied and separated children who are reaching legal majority across Europe can keep being supported through an extension of safeguards until they feel comfortable to live an autonomous life. The project also aims to widen the scope of guardianship to also include legal and administrative counselling and facilitate the integration of migrant children.
In order to ensure this, the project will conduct a comparative research to analyse best practices in a selection of EU Member States on the transition support to young migrants after they turn 18. The research findings will be promoted through a European conference and related advocacy work at national level and EU level.
